Great Show at the Taft
On Thursday April 26 Derek Trucks played live at the Taft with his wife Susan Tedeschi. The Tedeschi Trucks Band plays a blues rock style that was just wonderful to hear. Susan is described as a mix of Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt, and Derek is also a member of the Allman Brothers Band ( His uncle was a founding member). They have been together for just a few years and have already won a Grammy. Having photographed many, many rough characters on stages in the last 20 years, having Susan to photograph was a treat. I could not resist taking an image of one of the very few pairs of high heels I have ever seen on stage.

Meet Helen. She helps her clients buy homes. She is a long time client, and I love that she knows how important her image is, as well as her first impression. We are featuring her on our web site because her comments on how important the photos were from her recent session were perfect. Our Client of the Year!
Meet Walter Kraus, our 2011 Client of the Year! Mr. Kraus was born in Germany in 1920, and came to America at age 5, settling in Newport, Kentucky. In 1938 he graduated from NCC, and enlisted in the Navy. He volunteered for the Submarine Service, where he went on 11 missions. He now is the incoming President of the U.S. Submarine Veterans group, now 800 strong.
Walter came to us to have his official Presidential portrait created, and it was an honor to photograph him in three different uniforms. I learned so much about his life and what it was like on a submarine during the war. At 90 years young Walter told me stories about his life that sounded like they happened last year. Can you imagine being born in Germany, and as a young man going to war against your birth country?
Following our sessions Walter brought me some of his photos as a young man to be restored. I loved seeing him light up as he told stories from the times the old photos were taken.
