Here are the top tips that will help you with your session:
- It helps. No, it is almost a must, to have you at the session, even if you are just having a yearbook session. You will love knowing what your senior is wearing, and you can make sure the hair is perfect, and we get that elusive natural smile (Normally this is hard to find only if you have a boy!). On our portrait info page here on the web site is a movie that will give you a complete tour of the studio, plus we are just a call or email away, and are glad to help.
- Please make sure girls have sleeves on the formal yearbook outfit. For boys, I am able to tie their ties, not a problem. Jackets are not required, but are suggested, especially if the dress shirt is wrinkled or not the right size. If you are not sure about the jacket fitting, bring it, and we can evaluate, or take some with it on, and more with it off. In addition, they do not need to bring the pants and shoes. I truly wish I could capture the boys full length just once, with their shirt tail out, in shorts, and flip flops, and their suit coat. That would be a great profile picture for Facebook!
- Because we are the official photographer for the yearbook, we are doing both the formal and casual portraits. This is going over very well with parents. So much so that many parents have decided to bring their senior back in for a half or whole session, which is wonderful. If you decide to upgrade, the outfits used int he yearbook session will not count towards the outfits if you upgrade. On the same portrait info page here on our site, you can see details on each session. We also have what we call “yearbook plus” collections, which were created to make purchasing from the yearbook sessions easy and affordable. When you call, ask Amy about your options, we are always eager to help.
- For all sessions, it helps to consider all the seasons, and to look at what “signature” items your senior might have. Now that the temps have cooled, shorts and t-shirts may not be the only things the kids wear, but it still helps to review. A hooded sweatshirt, funky sweater, or cool sunglasses are perfect items to use in a session. We do inside and outside portraits, so we love cars, skateboards, and bikes. we add new backgrounds weekly, based on sessions we have done recently. If your senior is a musician, please call us. I played trumpet in high school and college, but never had a portrait done with my instrument. I know how cool they can look, so make sure you tell us when you call.
- All parents who we photograph seniors for receive a credit towards a family portrait session. The best time to have a portrait session is as soon as you can get the family together. We normally book up completely from mid-September through Thanksgiving, so call and reserve you best choice today, and if you need to reschedule, we promise to accommodate you. So many families use the portraits as holiday gifts, and on cards, we are like elves each year. Do not miss out on the chance to get your holiday shopping done early!
